RIYADH — August 1, 2025:
The Chef’s Kitchen corner at the Madinah Book Fair 2025 proved to be a crowd favorite, especially among young visitors, who eagerly participated in interactive culinary workshops celebrating the region’s rich food traditions — with a spotlight on Madinah’s world-famous dates.
Children learned how to prepare healthy, hands-on recipes like dipped date balls, nut-filled dates, and date-based snacks using bread and other nutritious ingredients. The workshops were supervised by trained facilitators to ensure safe and enjoyable learning.
🧠 Culinary Skills Meet Child Development
Designed to go beyond just cooking, the workshops also helped:
-
Develop sensory and motor skills
-
Encourage nutritional awareness
-
Promote appreciation for Madinah’s local agricultural heritage
“These sessions are about more than food — they teach children creativity, coordination, and cultural pride,” said one organizer.
📖 Creativity Unleashed at the Story Lab
Alongside the cooking sessions, the Story Lab corner captured young imaginations with interactive storytelling activities. Using digital screens, children crafted short, original stories by combining visual and written prompts.
This activity:
Strengthened Arabic vocabulary
Enhanced literary creativity
Reinforced cultural identity through language pride
“It’s exciting to see kids creating stories from scratch and truly owning their narratives,” said a visiting parent.
