Saudi Arabia Defeats India to Reach FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Quarterfinal Qualification Round

 

JEDDAH – Saudi Arabia cruised past India with an emphatic 84-59 victory in Group C of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025, securing a spot in the qualification round for the quarterfinals.

The hosts, now holding a 2-1 record, will face the Philippines — third in Group D — on Monday night, with a place in the last eight on the line.

Head coach Ricard Casas acknowledged the challenge ahead:

“The next match is not easy. It’s very difficult. We will give our best. These next hours are very important for our preparation, because we will play a good team.”

Center Mohammed Al-Marawani praised his teammates’ efforts and expressed confidence for the next clash:

“I just want to thank my teammates for their performance and hope we continue with this high level on Monday when we face the Philippines.”

The Philippines advanced to the qualification round after a hard-fought 66-57 win over Iraq in Group D.

Elsewhere, China maintained its perfect run and became the first team to secure a direct quarterfinal berth, beating Jordan 90-68. New Zealand also booked a direct spot with a commanding 118-78 win over Chinese Taipei in Group D.
