Alana Hadid Closes Copenhagen Fashion Week in Keffiyeh Gown Highlighting Palestinian Heritage

DUBAI — US-Palestinian model, creative director, and human rights activist Alana Hadid — sister of supermodels Gigi and Bella Hadid — made a powerful political and fashion statement at Copenhagen Fashion Week, wearing a keffiyeh-print gown by Mailliw by William.

“I wear my pride wherever I go,” Hadid wrote on Instagram, sharing images of herself walking through the streets of Copenhagen in the symbolic dress.

On Wednesday, she used Instagram to explain the cultural significance of the keffiyeh and spotlight designers who have supported the Palestinian cause over the years. Speaking to The New Arab, she said:

“I’ve been saying that I’m Palestinian for a long time, which, for a lot of people, was a revolutionary act. As a family, we’ve built a large platform, and I’d be ridiculous not to use it for this cause.”

Bella Hadid’s Earlier Statement
Last year, Bella Hadid wore a red-and-white keffiyeh-inspired dress at the Cannes Film Festival, designed by Michael Sears and Hushi Mortezaie (2001). She described the ensemble as a representation of Palestinian embroidery’s history, resilience, and artistry.

Bella also detailed the symbolism:

  • Olive leaves — strength, resilience, perseverance

  • Fishnet pattern — relationship between Palestinian fishermen and the sea, symbolizing abundance, grace, and freedom

  • Sea waves — resilience under 73 years of military occupation

Both sisters continue to merge fashion and activism, using high-profile appearances to amplify Palestinian heritage and rights.
