Madrid, July 29, 2025 — The Spanish Defense Ministry has announced plans to airdrop 12 tonnes of food into the Gaza Strip in a renewed effort to address the worsening humanitarian crisis in the region.
This new operation mirrors a previous mission carried out in March 2024, during which Spain successfully delivered 26 tonnes of food supplies to civilians affected by ongoing conflict and shortages.
The ministry confirmed that the food airdrop will be conducted using military aircraft, and the operation will be closely coordinated with international humanitarian agencies to ensure safe and accurate delivery.
“Spain remains committed to supporting innocent civilians trapped in the Gaza crisis,” said an official statement from the Ministry of Defense.
With growing concern over access to basic necessities in Gaza, Spain’s airdrop is being seen as a crucial lifeline for many families currently living under siege conditions.
This effort also highlights Europe’s increasing involvement in humanitarian operations in the Middle East, amid calls for more international support and pressure on regional actors to ensure humanitarian access.
