Israel Criticizes UN Summit on Two-State Solution as “Disconnected from Reality”

Israel Condemns UN Summit on Two-State Solution as Unrealistic

New York, July 29, 2025 — Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations has strongly criticized the ongoing international summit on the two-state solution, calling it a “deepening illusion” of peace that is disconnected from the current reality in the region.

The two-day summit, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, began on Monday at the UN headquarters in New York. The conference aims to revive discussions around a possible two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

However, Israel and the United States have boycotted the event, expressing frustration with the agenda and its timing.

According to Israel’s UN representative, the participants of the summit are engaging in “discussions disconnected from reality” instead of focusing on more urgent issues like the release of Israeli hostages and the dismantling of Hamas' rule in Gaza.

“This summit ignores the real threats we face. Instead of supporting Israel’s right to defend itself, the event promotes an illusion of peace that rewards terrorism,” said the Israeli envoy.

While the summit is being welcomed by many as a step toward restarting stalled peace talks, Israel argues that the focus should be on security, demilitarization, and ending extremist influence in the region before any political solution can move forward.

The summit has seen participation from European, Arab, and international diplomats, but the absence of Israel and the U.S. has raised questions about its effectiveness.
