JEDDAH – August 1, 2025:
In a remarkable increase from previous years, more than 1.2 million pilgrims have entered Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah since the current season began, according to data released by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
Pilgrims have arrived from 109 countries, showcasing rising global interest in religious tourism and the Kingdom’s expanded capacity to serve international visitors.
The ministry reported a 30% rise in Umrah visa holders compared to the same period last year. Additionally, visa issuance rose by 27%, with over 4,200 agreements signed between Saudi service providers and international agents.
The success of this season is largely attributed to the Nusuk digital platform, which allows pilgrims to apply for and obtain Umrah permits seamlessly through its mobile application. Nusuk acts as a centralized digital gateway, simplifying the visa and service process and enhancing the overall pilgrimage experience.
These advancements are part of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to modernize and streamline religious tourism in the Kingdom through technology and innovation.
