Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is set to be available for Saturday’s Community Shield match against Crystal Palace at Wembley, coach Arne Slot confirmed.
The Argentina international missed part of Liverpool’s preseason while recovering from a series of physical issues. However, he featured in the club’s final two friendlies — against Yokohama F. Marinos and Atletico Madrid — playing 30 and 45 minutes respectively.
“He’s been out for two months… starting is possible but definitely not for 90 minutes,” Slot said Friday.
Mac Allister, 26, last played a competitive match on May 11 against Arsenal and missed Liverpool’s final two league games. Last month, he revealed his absence was due to “two or three different” problems rather than a single injury, with rehabilitation focused on improving his physical structure in the gym.
