Freakier Friday: Lindsay Lohan & Jamie Lee Curtis Return in Hilarious, Heartfelt Sequel

DUBAI – August 2025

Over two decades after Disney’s beloved body-swap comedy “Freaky Friday” hit theaters, Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are back — and this time, things are getting even wilder in the highly anticipated sequel, “Freakier Friday.”

Now playing a dual role as stars and executive producers, Lohan and Curtis return as the iconic mother-daughter duo, but the plot thickens: a four-way body swap introduces two new characters, played by rising stars Julia Butters and Sophia Hammons.

🔄 Double the Trouble: A Four-Way Body Swap

“Freakier Friday” isn't just a nostalgic reboot — it ups the stakes with multi-generational body swapping, leading to comic chaos and unexpected emotional depth. According to Curtis, pulling it off isn’t just about acting — it’s about studying each other’s physical cues.

“You have to mirror each other’s physicality,” Curtis told Arab News. “It’s not exactly the mirror exercise, but it’s close.”

Lohan, who has lived in the UAE for over 10 years, added:

“There were subtle differences. Harper (her younger character) slouched and had a slower, more internal energy. Anna (my original character) stood taller, moved quicker — those were my cues.”

🎥 Behind the Scenes: Executive Producers Take the Lead

For the first time, Lohan steps into an executive producer role, joining Curtis in shaping the story and creative direction of the film. Their leadership reflects the evolution of women in Hollywood.

“It feels empowering,” said Lohan. “Especially working alongside Jamie — it’s great to finally have a voice from the ground up.”

Curtis, an Oscar winner and Hollywood veteran, said the crew “knew it was working” during one pivotal mirror scene — which is why it was saved for the end credits.

🎸 Pink Slip Returns: Nostalgia Meets Rock & Roll

Fans of the original 2003 film will be thrilled by the return of Pink Slip, the punk rock band fronted by Anna. Lohan embraced the chance to sing and play guitar again.

“It was nostalgic and exciting,” she said. “I hadn’t been playing guitar or singing much lately, so relearning that was a blast. Being back with the band was just... pure fun.”

❤️ What Makes Freakier Friday Special?

While the movie leans heavily into physical comedy and musical moments, both Lohan and Curtis agree the emotional core is about empathy and understanding.

“Walk a mile in my shoes — that’s the message,” said Lohan. “Don’t assume things about people. Get to know them first. We need that more than ever today.”

Curtis agreed:

“It’s funnier, more moving, and more mature. The themes — compassion, conflict resolution, humor — all feel deeper this time around.”
